WP10 - Community building
This WP is dedicated to consolidate a ground-breaking and disruptive community on plant-inspired robotics technologies, strongly grounded on an inter-disciplinary character. GrowBot will lay the foundational activities to make this community active within, outside and beyond the project and within and among specialists in biology and technology.
Partners involved
Tasks
Activities: This task focuses on setting up a platform to link different communities that work on plants from different perspectives and aims.
Expected results: This will include a) a collection of experimental protocols and set-ups, and software for analysis of plant features; b) links to other related projects; c) forum and tutorials.
Activities: GrowBot will promote initiatives to enlarge the scientific and technological community around plants science, bioinspired materials and robotics, but also creative design.
Expected results: Two calls for ideas for prizes will be launched during the project dedicated to young researchers, especially PhD students and young PostDocs (max 35 years old), to support career promotion and enlarge to topics not covered within GrowBot but relevant to the project aims.
Activities: This task intends to provide opportunities for gathering and exchange of ideas and experiences, promoting discussions on open issues, tracking technical developments and encouraging innovation, fostering the exchange of personnel and collaboration activities, systematizing knowledge relevant for GrowBot.
Expected results: Organization of joint and common initiatives, interdisciplinary workshops, and Working Groups open to scientists outside the project. Drawing up working papers, special issues and a book series collecting the knowledge of bioinspired and soft robotics, science on climbing plants and on other issues related to the project.
Activities: Demo days, open to general public, industries and stakeholders, will be set up at the end of the third and fourth year to present the achievements of the project, and to test the developed technology on specific case studies set up at lab facilities (e.g., IIT, TERRINET, Linari or Bioo environments).
Expected results: To create opportunities to get feedback from public audience, companies, stakeholders, end users.
